We are one of two nationally accredited legal centres on the Gold Coast. We offer lawyers, law students and many other friends the opportunity to serve the City of Gold Coast by providing free legal services to those who need a lawyer but cannot afford one. My Community Legal is an independent, volunteer-run association that receives no funding from the state or federal government, but is supported by many partners, including: Gold Coast District Law Association; Queensland Law Society; Bond University; Griffith University; Southern Cross University; Other partners; and philanthropists. Community Legal Centres (CLCs) respond to the needs of the community rather than a political, governmental, or commercial agenda. At our core, we believe in pro bono publico volunteerism in the legal profession, human rights and natural justice in accordance with the law. CLCs are independent, not-for-profit law firms funded by a number of organizations to provide legal services to a defined geographic community. We are immersed in the community and work with many other community organizations to provide a holistic solution to the client, such as in emergency shelters, social counseling and financial counseling. (MCL) is an accredited community legal centre and registered charity based in Gold Coast that helps clients who cannot afford a lawyer and are not receiving legal assistance. My Community Legal (MCL) is an independent initiative of the Gold Coast District Law Association and many collaborators. We offer local practitioners and law students who intend to become lawyers the opportunity to serve the people of Gold Coast and Tweed by providing free legal services to those who need them but cannot afford them. MCL`s volunteer lawyers provide free legal assistance in the following areas of activity: domestic and domestic violence; consumers and debt; Employment; Rental; minor and traffic offences; Micro; and immigration law. Counselling sessions at Southport Community Hub are held every two weeks on Tuesdays. Appointments with this service take place from 9:00 to 11:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00. Consultations at Robina`s headquarters take place every Thursday evening, admission begins at 17:00. No appointment is required to attend this service.
