Here`s the kicker, only two ingredients are needed: a 40% alcohol-based solvent (commonly known as vodka) and organic vanilla beans. And you`re right, there are a lot of additives these days that are being added to vanilla because FDA regulations are lax. In fact, up to 40% fructose can be added to sweeten the extract. I myself prefer to use singing dog vanilla.

You inspired me to do something very similar this afternoon, I had to improvise with vanilla extract as I didn`t have beans but it was still amazing. Have you ever tried vanilla powder, if so, have you found a brand you like? Do you know. I could make my own mayonnaise, and maybe I`ll get a yogurt machine. But vanilla? I use a well-known brand name – it says alcohol, but it also says gluten-free on the outer box. (But I bet you`ll have fun doing it yourself!) This coffee looks so delicious.
