Exemption from axle limitations: Vehicles carrying gravel, earth and rock, earth, sand, coal, clay, shale, phosphate sludge, asphalt, concrete, other building materials, solid waste, cisterns or animal residues, livestock and agricultural products or agricultural limestone are not subject to state axle limits, as long as the total weight does not extend beyond state borders and their route is on non-interstate highways (Tenn. Code Ann. §55-7-203[6]). Waste and solid waste: Vehicles designed, registered and used exclusively for the collection and transport of waste are exempt from the provisions on the weight of wheelsets and are subject only to the provisions on the total gross weight, except in the interstate system (Ky. Rev. Stat.
§ 189.222 [7]). Vehicles engaged exclusively in the transportation of solid waste may have an axle weight tolerance of ten percent on non-interstate highways (Ky. Rev. Stat. §189.222[10]). Primary Forest Products: Vehicles transporting primary forest products, including but not limited to sawdust, wood chips, bark, slabs or logs from the point of origin to the first market, can reach a total weight of up to 80,000 pounds on all state highways. Vehicles authorized and used exclusively for the carriage of these products are exempt from axle load restrictions and are subject only to global eligibility restrictions. They may also exceed the GVWR limit of a 10% tolerance, except on interstate highways. Other commercial vehicles used for the transport of primary forest products are subject to restrictions on both axle and gross weight, but may be exceeded by a tolerance of 10 percent on non-interstate highways (Ky. Rev. Stat.
§189.222[2] [6]). Aggregates: Vehicles engaged exclusively in the transportation of gravel, earth and rock filling, earth, sand, coal, phosphate sludge, asphalt or concrete may have a tolerance of 10% of the axle load regulations, except on interstate highways (Ky. Rev. Stat. § 189.222[10]). Garbage truck: A lorry which is not in combination, equipped with a self-compactor or an industrial rolling lorry and a rolling container, and used exclusively for garbage, refuse or recycling work is entitled to £22,000. on a single axle, 40,000 lbs on a tandem axle or a 2-axle vehicle and 54,000 lbs gross weight on a 3-axle vehicle. These trucks are not subject to the bridge formula. This provision does not apply to heavy goods vehicles travelling on an interstate highway (Ill.
Rev. Stat. chap. 625, §5/15-111[a][7]). NY Thruway Access: Various access routes to the New York Thruway are exempt from state weight restrictions, with Thruway restrictions being imposed. The Thruway allows combinations of vehicles to operate up to 143,000 lbs of total weight, as long as the vehicles meet axle loads and spacing. Section 15a authorizes NYSDOT and the NY Thruway Authority to enter into a cooperative agreement for overweight vehicle licenses along the Thruway System, the state highway network, and Highways 5 and 49 between the displaced intersections, including the Edic Road and River Road interchange near Edic Road near the city of Utica. Most manufacturers take care to provide a trailer with a lot of capacity for the boat, but if you are carrying a lot of equipment, you can cut it nearby. If you are buying a used boat, you should check the capacity of the trailer before buying. Fire Engines: Any fire truck with appropriate equipment that meets the standards of the National Fire Protection Association is exempt from the gross weight and axle weight restrictions of Maine law (Me. Rev. Stat. Ann. tit. 29-A, § 2353 [6]). Puppy Trailer Permit: These regulations permit a three-axle truck weighing up to 60,000 lbs, including cargo, in combination with a two-axle trailer weighing up to 25,000 lbs, including cargo, with a combined length of up to 65 feet.
The permit allows a combination on state highways and thoroughfares specified in regulations. The aim is to enable bulky materials, e.g. recyclable materials, to be transported more efficiently and cheaply (Mass. Admin. Mésange de code. 700, §8.17). Cotton: The gross weight on tandem axles of a cotton module for which a special permit has been issued shall not exceed 50,000 pounds. A cotton module with a gross tandem axle weight of 50,000 lbs or less is not considered a compressor load under the rules and regulations of the Kansas Department of Transportation (Kansas Stat. Ann. §8-1916). Tow trucks: State weight restrictions do not apply to vehicles or combinations of vehicles that are deactivated and removed from a highway in the state, provided that the combination of vehicles does not travel more than 75 miles on public roads from which the obstruction occurred.
In addition, a heavy tow truck combined with the towed unit(s) may exceed the axle, size and maximum weight limits for tow trucks and combinations of towed units, except that the limit cannot exceed 150,000 lbs.
